Puccini's events in Lucca

The 6th March 2004 is the date when the Puccini Festival officially starter its activity in Lucca, a town so rich of musical tradition. Composers like Nicolao Dorati, Cristoforo Malvezzi, Gioseffo Guami, Giovanni Lorenzo Gregari, Francesco Barsanti, Francesco Geminiani, Filippo Manfredi, Luigi Boccherini, Alfredo Catalani e Giacomo Puccini. Lucca land of musicians but no one loved as G Puccini: the greatness of his music is well known all over the world.
Andrea Colombini, the artistic director of The Caledonian Academy of Tuscany, has strongly wished that the name of GP was indissolubly linked to Lucca, the town where the great Maestro was born on the 22nd Decembre 1

858. Since then, The Caledonian Academy of Tuscany has carried out almost 120 concerts with 13.800 tickets sold in about 6 months of programmation.
The “Puccini e la sua Lucca” festival is the only permanent festival in the world, with more than 100 events granted for all 2005. Recitals, opera selections, special concerts (“The Three Tenors”, “Puccini’s heroines” and many others): all in the most beautiful and stunning Basilica in the very core of Lucca(San Giovanni), all at the same time (concerts starts at 7:00 p.m.), all sporting great nationally and internationally renown singers and pianists.
